This is the first thing published under the Moonlit Canopy name, so it might as well explain what that name is doing here.
Moonlit Canopy is an independent press — my own, not a division of anything larger. I set it up specifically for Project Mycelium, and for whatever comes after it. The short reason is that this book asks a fair amount of a reader in its opening pages and doesn't apologize for any of it, and I wanted to be the one making that call, start to finish, rather than negotiating it with somebody else's list of what a debut is supposed to do.
Project Mycelium is Book I of The Mycelium Cycle — a four-book series set seventeen years after a biological catastrophe called the Bloom quietly took apart the world as it existed. It's adult science fiction, closer to horror than most of the genre's shelf space admits to being, and it does not raise its voice to make a point. If that's not what you're looking for, this probably isn't the site for you, and that's fine.
This blog will mostly be two things: worldbuilding that doesn't fit inside the books themselves, and occasional notes on the actual work of writing them. Not a lot of noise in between.
